The term, Jungwon-gu of Seongnam city, was named as Jungwon local office as local office is installed in of Seongnam city in July 1, 1988 and was promoted to ��Jungwon-gu, Seongnam city' in May 1 of next year.
Looking at the history of Seongnam city, Baekje founder, Onjo King, appointed it as the seat of government in BC 18 and it is old place and historic area of Hanam wiryeseong. It was called as hansanju or namhansanju in 660 AD after Silla destructed Baekje and changed its name to Hanju in 757 and it was called as Gwangju in founder era of Korea and there were moksa, sueosa, Yusoo in Chosun and there was Gwangju governor in 1985. At this time, according to installation of myeon, sechonmyeon, dolmamyeon, naksaengmyeon were installed and 6 ri among 7 ri of sechonmyeon were transferred in Joongbumyeon and 1 ri was transferred into dolmamyeon and then Daewangmyeon was installed in 1911.
Joongbumyeon Seongnam local office was installed in 6 ri of previous sechonmyeon in Joongbumyeon, Gwangju-gun and it was switched to direct control system of Gwangju governor by rules of Joongbumyeon Seongnam local office.
Gyeonggi direct local office was installed in August 1 and it was renamed to Seongnam sity(1 sil 10 gwa 2 office, 2 local office, 18 district office). It was promoted to Seonnam city Joongwon-ju�� because of installation of gu in May. 1 of 1989 and Bundang local office was installed in May, 27 of 1991 and finally the Bundang-gu was separated in Sep, 17 of same year.
